Basic
Issues
The Philosophy of Liberty guides our view of
government in society.
Government
redistributes wealth. Wealth is taken from some citizens
then distributed back to other citizens.
Through government activities some citizens gain wealth at the
expense of others.
Taxation and market intervention can be threats to life, liberty, and
property. |
General Approach
Responsible government must examine every activity to determine its
legitimacy. If a proposed action doesn't meet the test, it should not be
created. If an existing action fails, it should be terminated.
To determine legitimacy, an action's beneficiaries must be reconciled
with those who bear the cost. When taxpayers bear the cost they must
also be the beneficiaries. Allowing special interests to benefit at the
expense of taxpayers is irresponsible. |
